Story -
I entered the ring with Stallion by my side. He was not in front of me, nor behind, and that felt comforting with all faces on us. The sun beat down on us, adding to my high temperature. I glanced down at Stallion; he wasn't panting. God he was so focused! Eventually we stepped forwards, but this time Stallion led me. He looked up at me, and his expression was soft. Many people had got the impression that he was a cold, unloving beast, but I knew they were wrong. Stallion lay down, and I walked towards the first jump. In a burst of speed, he leapt from the ground and bounded over the first jump at least two strides early. It was difficult for me to keep up with him, as not only was he lightning fast like his greyhound kennel-mates, but the jumps were very low. The crowd behind us were silent, I hoped they had gained a little respect for him. To my surprise, just as we were approaching the weaving poles, a small border collie yapped at Stallion, taking him by surprise. As a comeback, Stallion opened his jaws and roared at the dog with his biggest voice, shocking everyone. I was in despair, all respect for him would be gone, but oh no; we crossed the finish line, and he jumped up at me, standing taller than me and licked my face. He gave a huge doggy-grin to the crowd and greeted nearby dogs with a waggy tail. I hung around a while afterwards, socializing Stallion, and showing everyone what a lovely dog he was, I liked to think that people had got the right impression about Spear Hounds.
